What IP rating do I need outside?
IP44 for sheltered areas (under a porch), IP65 or higher for anything exposed to rain and direct sun. Each product lists its IP rating.
Are solar lights bright enough?
Modern solar floods and street lights are very capable — check the wattage and lumens. Bigger panels and batteries give longer, brighter run-times.
Mains vs solar — which is cheaper long-term?
Solar costs more upfront but has no running cost and no wiring; mains is cheaper to buy and gives constant output. Many people mix both.
Do motion sensors work with LED?
Yes — most outdoor LED fittings and floods offer PIR motion sensing. Filter by motion sensor to find them.
